# X

Let a superagent post, reply and search on X.

With an X channel, a superagent can act on an X account: posting updates, replying, searching, and managing the account.

{% hint style="info" %}
The X channel is outbound only. The superagent can post and search, but it doesn't yet receive mentions or messages sent to the account.
{% endhint %}

## What it can do

| Action                  | Details                                                       |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Post** | Plain-text posts of up to 280 characters, with up to 4 images |
| **Reply**               | Reply to posts                                                |
| **Search**              | Search posts on X                                             |
| **Update the bio** | Change the account's profile description |
| **Check analytics** | Read how the account's posts are performing |
| **Follow and unfollow** | Follow or unfollow accounts |

## Set up the channel

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Get API credentials from X

In the X developer portal, create an app for the account the superagent will use, and generate its four API credentials: the API key and secret, and the access token and secret.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add the channel in Zerve

Open the superagent's [settings](/zerve-docs/superagents/settings.md), go to **Channels**, and add **X**. Paste the four credentials. Zerve checks them when you save, so you'll know straight away if any are wrong.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Posts on X are public. Use [guardrails](/zerve-docs/superagents/settings.md#persona-and-guardrails) to set what the superagent may and may not post, and consider an objective's [autonomy level](/zerve-docs/superagents/objectives-kpis-and-autonomy.md#autonomy) if you want it to ask before posting.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.zerve.ai/zerve-docs/superagents/channels/x.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
